The importance of an articulated SDGs Framework for steering such an ambitious and time-bound 2030 Agenda is well established. The Punjab SDGs Support Unit undertook the assignment of developing the Punjab SDGs Framework in a scientific manner involving the think tanks recognized for their expertise in social, economic, and environmental areas. The Unit arranged extensive Advisory / Cluster consultations at the provincial level through the institutional mechanism for SDGs planning and implementation in Punjab to ensure effective coordination and participation of multiple stakeholders in the process of formulation of the provincial SDGs framework. The whole exercise was completed under the guidance of the Planning & Development Board which had an active role in steering consultations on the Social, Economic, Environment, and Governance Cluster Groups.
The Punjab SDGs Framework is a flagship initiative of the Punjab SDGs Support Unit, P&D Board, Punjab, and UNDP Pakistan. It is a guiding document that helps contextualize local needs by identifying the baselines against SDGs indicators and outlining short-term, medium-term, and long-term SDG priorities. In keeping with the Punjab Government's resolve, the Framework provides a trajectory to strategize policies and integrate its future investment with the SDGs priorities outlined in the Framework.
