Based on its work with the Government of Punjab, the Punjab SDGs Unit realized the importance of moving beyond the alignment of government interventions with the SDGs and focusing on determining annual resource requirements for priority SDGs indicators, as identified in the Punjab SDGs Framework, to achieve the 2030 targets.
Scenario Planning and Strategic Forecasting for SDGs in Punjab is an excellent guidance tool to support evidence-based resource allocation prioritization for SDGs in the province. The study centers around reviewing of KPIs and ongoing public sector development investments aligned with SDGs in Punjab. It aims to estimate annual resource requirements, current investment gaps, and the key initiatives crucial to achieving priority SDGs in the province. The report identifies the gap in achieving SDGs against 15 indicators of priority targets and enlists the critical factors, drivers, and influencers that can trigger the achievement of SDG indicators. It also outlines possible scenarios based on the Government investment options, laying out optimal budgetary strategy resources required to achieve 2030 targets for priority indicators in Punjab.
