The Punjab SDGs Unit participated in a high-level Deep Dive on South Punjab, jointly organized by the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office and South Punjab Secretariat in Bahawalpur. The dialogue provided a platform for development partners, UN agencies, members of the civil society, and the Government of Punjab to explore avenues for accelerated development, women empowerment, and decentralization in Pakistan.
The UNDP Resident Representative, Mr. Knut Ostby, moderated the final panel of this dialogue and reiterated the partnership between UNDP Pakistan and South Punjab Secretariat through its Punjab SDGs Unit’s support for developing data-driven & evidence-based policymaking and South Punjab Plan for Sustainable Development. Mr. Knut underscored the role of South Punjab’s development as a strategic priority area for the effective implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
