Consultative Session on Integrated Financing Strategy for SDGs in Punjab

Consultative Session on Integrated Financing Strategy for SDGs in Punjab

The Punjab SDGs Unit hosted the 2nd consultative session on Integrated Financing Strategy (IFS) for SDGs in Punjab, with representatives of Provincial line departments and UNDP, chaired by Member Infrastructure Development, Mr. Abid Bodla, and Chief SDGs, Planning & Development Board, Punjab, Board, Ms. Saba Asghar.

The consultation focused on highlighting the scope of the Integrated Financing Strategy to align the existing policies and institutional structures with SDGs objectives and financing policy areas in Punjab. Through this strategy, the Punjab SDGs Unit is providing support to the P&D Board Punjab in laying out how the Provincial SDGs Strategy will be financed and implemented by bringing together the existing provincial policies and instruments, promoting coherence with sustainable development objectives. The IFS Strategy aims to bridge the existing SDGs financing gaps through innovative financing models that will accelerate progress on sustainable development in Punjab.

The Financing Strategy supports prioritizing financing policy actions that best respond to national goals, needs, and constraints. Some of the innovative financing strategies that could accelerate SDGs impact by the Government of Punjab include climate finance opportunities through the Green Climate Fund, infrastructure guarantee funds, impact investing, and mortgage financing for housing. The feedback and recommendations from this consultation will be incorporated to finalize this strategy.
